“The ideals behind the “Nature vs Nurture” debate is pinpointing the factors that control or decide the outcome of our personality among others factors that effect our life and society. As both sides ultimately guide these ideals, beyond any reasonable doubt the facts that surround “Nurture” must be brought to the forefront of answering these questions. The examples that will prove this statement include, the facts behind nutrition and how it has changed, the outcome and findings of many Feral children and factors in environments and which we live in. From this we can absolutely decide that Nurture is the greater answer for these questions.
First and foremost the ideas that encompass the nurture theory include change, throughout our history, obviously things has changed. Such as diet, since the inception of agriculture; according to Loren Cordain it is accepted that, agriculture introduced a variety of new vegetables and foods, that drastically changed the way metabolisms work. For instance the Paleo Diet; which debates that the food that is made for us in present was and isn’t made for the body that was paved for us through years of hunter-gatherer ways of living as so, in present day the introduction of diseases such as stroke, obesity, dementia, acne, or diabetes were the way of humans adapting to change of overall diet and standard of life. Thus changing the way humans grow and develop as such the life expectancy of those in palaeolithic (before the inception of agriculture) times was 16 oppose to modern day, are extreme comparisons. That is to say, that the genetic make up of how human beings, are easily changed and like so, other qualities of humans may also be altered even drastically as stated.
Secondly, the instance of many feral children are as objective as it can become, as the idea of being raised in a certain society dictates the mannerism and the personality of a person; is no different as being raised in a distinct country and growing up feeling patriotism towards that certain country. Another occurrence is the aspect of languages in accordance to feral children as language involves physical barriers. As many feral children do not learn to the concept of speech. As the complexity of the brain influence the way we learn, what we learn is deemed more important as the process of becoming your own person is a long term and more critical opposed to the genetic make up of our brain.
Lastly is the idea of Nurture itself, as Nature involves the imprint of our DNA, Nurture is the concept of a process that is ongoing throughout a person’s life, that ultimately shapes the way humans behave. The more long term effects of what your are exposed to as a child. The media and images brought to you as a child, are different to those of ancestors thus according to Perry (2002) “When the child has adverse experiences — loss, threat, neglect, and injury — there can be disruptions of neuro-development that will result in neural organization that can lead to compromised functioning throughout life”.
